Weird and Wonderful Records

Posted by Admin On 6:00 AM 0 comments

I know what its like to set a record in a game or finish the game on the hardest level. There's this feeling of pride and joy over accomplishing something that isn't easy. But here's some selection of records in the gaming world that borders weirdness:

FIRST GAMING CLAN TO LEGALLY BIND THEIR PLAYERS

The success of Counter-Strike inspired the first ever gaming clan to legally bind their players to the clan. The clan, SK Gaming, subsequently became the first clan to have a player bought out of their contract when Team NoA bought Ola “elemeNt” Moum for an undisclosed sum in May 2004.

LONGEST PRISON SENTENCE FOR PLAYING A VIDEO GAME In September 2002, the UK’s Faiz Chopdat was jailed for four months for playing Tetris on his mobile phone on a plane. Nobody has been jailed longer for playing a video game.

SMALLEST VIDEO GAME DANCE MAT

The smallest DDR mat in the world measures 10 cm (4 in) wide by 11.5cm (4.5 in) long and weighs just 20 g (0.7 oz) and is the world’s first hand-held dance mat to be played with the fingers.

FIRST VIDEO GAME SERIES TO INSPIRE A BALLET

The first video game to inspire a ballet was Dragon Quest.

MOST EXPENSIVE FLIGHT SIMULATOR COCKPIT

Australian trucking tycoon Matthew Sheil has spent the last eight years constructing a flight simulator cockpit based around the Boeing 747-400. To date the project has cost $300,000 Australian dollars (£132,000) – it is the most expensive home-made flight simulation cockpit in the world.

LARGEST VIRTUAL BEER FESTIVAL

Once a year in World of Warcraft the warring factions of the Horde and the Alliance put down their arms and celebrate “Brewfes
t”; the world’s largest virtual beer festival.

MOST OFFICIAL REAL LIFE STAND-INS

Having been officially portrayed by nine different models, Lara Croft is the video game character with the most real life stand-ins.

MOST PROLIFIC VIDEO GAME CHARACTER

Mario has appeared in 116 distinct titles (not including remakes or re-releases) making him the most prolific video game character of all time.

FIRST CONSOLE IN A NUCLEAR WEAPONS CONSPIRACY

In December 2000, it was reported that the FBI and US Customs were investigating the shipment of up to 4,000 PlayStation 2 consoles to Iraq. As they were designated video game systems, rather than hardware, it was rumoured that this allowed Saddam Hussein to avoid UN sanctions prohibiting the sale of computer hardware to Iraq. It was speculated that the consoles could be adapted for use as guidance systems for long-range missiles.

ONLY SENSORED SPORTS GAME

BMX XXX is the only extreme sports game to have been censored. Featuring several nude BMX riders, this was modified in the PlayStation 2 version to include black bars covering exposed body parts. Ironically, the version on the family-centric GameCube remained unchanged. BMX XXX was originally part of the Dave Mirra series, until Dave realised the nature of the content and requested his name be removed.

“HOTTEST” FEMALE FIGHTING GAME CHARACTER

In an internet poll of serious martial artists who also happen to play fighting games, the character of Nina Williams, from Tekken, was voted the “hottest”. The barely-clad blonde was admired for her fighting skills and fashion sense. Nina is the only female character to have appeared in every version of Tekken, and also starred in her own spin-off game, the 2005 PlayStation 2 title Death by Degrees.

Gaming Snacks: What do you eat?

Posted by Admin On 6:00 AM 3 comments

I am guilty of sometimes playing long hours in front of the computer so its inevitable for me to bring with me some light 'snacks' so I don't have to get up and interrupt the game just to eat. LOL. Nwei, these are some of the most common types of snacks gamers bring with them (as posted by GM HaTTrick of Level Up!):

1. The non cheesy, greasy potato or corn chips – keep away from those ultra cheesy chips that would leave your fingers smudged from excess cheese powder because the moment you start licking your fingers and make contact with more of the cheesy goodness, chances are its going to end up on your mouse and KB! Pretty soon you’re going to have a cheese covered play area in no time, and a lot of germs to boot (and slime, lolx)!

2. Bite size chocolates – Not bars, just the snack sized ones, the type that easily pops in your mouth. Plus, it is also important to remember that these chocolate snacks should be easy to open since you will be munching on them in between quick breaks so every second counts!!

3. Pancit canton and Cup Noodles – Now I’m not a big fan of having these quick snacks when I play, but most of my friends do. The pro with it is that it comes with its own manageable container so it wouldn’t be nuisance for other players when you eat in a cafĂ©. But this is highly recommended for home based players and not in cafes – but some can pull it off though!

4. Water, water and more water – I have played long hours at home, and in the absence of something to eat, having a bottle of water close by helps me get through the long hours of leveling and questing! Believe me; forget everything else except for this!

How about you? What do you bring along when you play? ^__^

How long can you avoid him? My best was around 300 - 400. LOL.

PayPerPost Review

Posted by Admin On 8:00 AM 0 comments

PayPerPost. It is an online service that helps website publishers and advertisers alike. Advertisers are provided with the means to promote their products and services through the PayPerPost network of thousands of bloggers worldwide. Meanwhile, publishers are rewarded for providing accurate reviews and information about the advertiser's products and services . All in all, it is a win-win situation for both parties. And this was all made possible by PayPerPost. I just started blogging and a friend of mine referred me to PayPerPost's website and told me to try out the service. At first I was skeptical but thanks to wide information available at their website, I learned that you are paid to write about things that interests you. For me, that was a very good...no...a great idea since you are being rewarded for doing things that you really want to do. It was a no-brainer. I joined the wide network of publishers with PayPerPost.

Aside from monetary rewards, as a publisher, I am surprised at how many of my friends from social networking and blog communities know about PayPerPost and have a very positive feedback about their memberships. Another advantage in joining PayPerPost? Traffic and lots of it. Interested online shoppers or customers will read your reviews and content at your site about a certain product or service before buying or joining it.

With the money I earn, I can afford to pay the rent and my internet connection too! PayPerPost is the best way to earn money online. Do not miss out on the chance to become a PayPerPost blogger.

I admit, once in my life I played a game not because of the game play or storyline but because it featured a virtual babe. Yep, that one was Tomb Raider. I mean, its the very first 3D interactive game I ever played and the hero was a...girl. Who wouldn't be attracted to that? Back then, it was cutting edge in terms of graphics too! Lol! But enough of me, who is your top babe of gaming? Comment it below. Meanwhile, watch this video about the other babes in games...^_~

STRANGELETS. Sometimes there are weird games but most of the time there are weird gamers...like this video below:

I think that kid just got a one-way ticket to an asylum. May this be a lesson to most gamers out there, control yourself while playing ok? You might just get yourself banned for life in gaming by your parents or just smacked silly by the person beside you inside an internet cafe. LOL. Anyway, have you heard of any weird games OR gamers lately? Post them here on the comments section. =P
